The wide receiver position has been a strong point for Appalachian State over the years and a lack of experience has rarely been an issue the Mountaineers have had to deal with in the unit.

Generally speaking, the Mountaineers have consistently had quality experience matched with a refreshing dose of youth and talent. In recent ASU history there was DaVon Fowlkes and William Mayfield to nurture the likes of Dexter Jackson and Hans Batichon. Then there was the latter two to guide CoCo Hillary followed by T.J. Courman and Josh Johnson to help develop Brian Quick.
